Microsoft employees held a funeral parade for the iPhone & Blackberry in celebration of the new Windows Phone 7 series. They were seen carrying blackberry and iPhone coffins while wearing Microsoft capes in true geek fashion. They also announced a $500Million marketing campaign to back up the launch of the new OS. It’s refreshing to see Microsoft back in the game and in tune with popular demand. It’s all about being social and creative while increasing the user experience-I think that’s exactly what Microsoft is aiming to do.
Microsoft finally gets it:
Microsoft is sticking to the three C’s on the internet: Content, Community & Commerce. Content is king so Microsoft is introducing Netflix Mobile. Say you’re on vacation and you don’t have your laptop in reach, but you feel like watching one of your favorite comedies- Now you can from the comfort of your phone on Microsoft Windows 7 series.
Microsoft is focusing on the community by introducing Xbox live to the mobile platform making gaming social and portable. That’s right, you can preview, purchase, and play popular games on your mobile device. With Google looking to acquire or launch a social gaming platform it sounds like a no brainer for Microsoft to launch Xbox live community on the new Windows Phone 7 OS platform.
The new Windows phone 7 series comes loaded with commerce by including a marketplace, Bing search, Zune streaming music player and great productivity suites we’ve learned to love. Don’t underestimate how highly respected Microsoft is for its core business, gaming presence and its increasingly popular search business (Still steadily gaining market share). We’re about to experience a new era of Microsoft that I think we’ve all been waiting for- A mobile device that can compliment productivity, gaming & the new social era.
